The exhibition The Transparent Breath celebrates the breath that shapes the matter making it at the same time unique and eternal. The noble and ancient material of glass is glorified by ancestral entities such as breath, fire and the hand of man, still protagonists of its processing, which allow to reinterpret this element in a contemporary key, offering a privileged view of the current landscape of the artistic jewel in glass.
The works on display vary in technique, ranging from blown glass, to glass lampworking, to glass casting, depending on the sensitivity of the artists and their needs. The city of Venice is the ideal showcase for the evocative creations of international artists, who celebrate the contemporaneity of a material with such ancient history in the city that for centuries has been the absolute protagonist of the glass tradition.
The exhibition comes to life as part of the festival The Italian Glass Weeks, of which Venice is the second hosting city with The Venice Glass Week, after Milan with the Vision Milan Glass Week, and the only one entirely dedicated to artistic glass. The festival is held as part of the 2022 United Nations International Year of Glass, which aims to celebrate the fundamental role that glass has in our society, while maintaining an interest in the promotion and enhancement of a material characterized by an exceptional versatility.
